My first closing, and why I left the stage for this

For fifteen years, all I really did was dance. Then last month I handed a couple the keys to their first home in Hurst. It was my first closing, and I have not stopped thinking about it.

I got into this work for a simple reason. When my wife and I bought our own first home, we did it without an agent. We bought straight from the people we were renting from, and we felt every gap. Nobody walked us through the parts we did not understand. It worked out, but it was a lot to carry alone, and I remember wishing someone had just been in our corner.

So that is who I try to be now. With this couple, my job was not to rush anything. It was to explain the steps, answer the same question twice if they needed it, and make sure they never felt locked into something they were not ready for. When we got to the closing table, they were calm. That was the whole goal.

What I can tell you is that I know what betting on yourself feels like. I left a fifteen-year career to build something steadier for my family.
